Dear Rowland Adult and Community Education Family,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to a new school year! My name is Mitchell Brunyer and I am your new director here at RACE. I am truly honored to serve this school and community, and I look forward to the year ahead filled with learning, growth, and partnership.

This role holds special meaning for me because I grew up right here in the Rowland Heights community attending Rowland Unified School District schools - Killian Elementary, Alvarado Intermediate, and graduating from Rowland High School. The values, experiences, and relationships I gained as a student in this district continue to shape who I am today. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving as both a teacher and an administrator within our school district to include principal of Rowland High School for 15-years. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the strengths of our schools, the diversity of our community, and a strong commitment to helping every student succeed.

As we begin this school year, I would like to share some areas of focus that I believe will make a meaningful difference for our students. When educators work together, students benefit. We will continue to build a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration among our teachers and staff through professional learning communities to ensure that learning for all is at the center of the work. Our school has many strong programs in place, and this year we will be intentional about enhancing and expanding what already works well for students. Clear, consistent, and open communication with students and the wider community will remain a priority. We want to ensure you always feel connected to what’s happening at RACE. Finally, our school is strongest when we listen to and learn from our students and community partners. We are committed to seeking out your input and being responsive to the needs and ideas you share.
