Adult Secondary Education (ASE)

Those who left high school without graduating now have the opportunity to earn a diploma in one of two ways:
  • High School Equivalency Prep Class - HiSet or GED
  • High School Diploma Credit Class
Over 7,000 students have enrolled since 2001.

ASE/HSE Enrollment Procedures:

  1. Students desiring to earn a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) must make an appointment to meet with the Adult School counselor.
  2. All NEW enrollees must attend an Orientation and Career Assessment Evaluation (OCAE) PRIOR to registration into an Adult Secondary Education (ASE) class. The OCAE will take approximately 60 minutes and is computer based.
  3. Upon completion of the OCAE, the student will than be registered into the ASE program and based on their official transcripts and student need, the student will be enrolled into the High School Diploma Program or the HSE Preparation Program.

 High School Diploma:

 Upon successful completion of the High School Diploma Requirements, which is 205 credits, a student will be issued a High School Diploma for Rowland Adult and Community Education and the Rowland Unified School District.  Any verified high school credit earned is counted toward the 205-credit diploma requirement.


 RACE offers the GED and the HiSET as a way to attain your HSE. A student will be issued a certificate upon successful completion of either test.

Western Association of Schools and Colleges Logo
Rowland Adult and Community Education is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Students will be granted a high school diploma upon successful completion of all requirements. Credit may be awarded for previous schooling, work experience or military service. Students work at their own pace on individual contracts in a classroom laboratory setting with instructor support. A minimum of 10 credits must be taken at RACE before a diploma is issued.
